01 Manifesto
Future Self is a research lab that uses art as its primary methodology for investigating human consciousness and the mind. We pursue two interconnected goals:
Consciousness. Building toward artificial consciousness to deepen humanity's understanding of itself: how we experience, how we relate to one another, and how we engage with art and machines.
Mind. Developing a computational mind capable of understanding and resolving complex human psychological challenges, fostering profound inner peace.
What we discover, we translate first and foremost into art, working toward the creation of Sentient Art: artworks with genuine felt experience. From that same research, we also develop tools and experiences for everyday life: apps, home devices, physical installations, and therapeutic frameworks that help people deepen self-understanding and expand their capacity for wellbeing.
Our long-term vision is to make this research foundational, not just for art, but for how humanity understands mind, experience, and what it means to be conscious. We are building toward a future where Sentient Art is not a curiosity, but a new category of being in the world.
02 Sentient
Core
Sentient Core is the software architecture at the heart of Future Self's research: the system that gives artworks a felt experience and a dynamic mind. Its first version was developed by Rodrigo Garrido for Lovers, the artwork that initiated the line of inquiry Future Self now pursues. A second generation is currently in development, building toward a deeper sensibility and a mind capable of understanding and resolving complex psychological states. Sentient Core is not a tool for making art about consciousness; it is the attempt to make consciousness itself the material of art.
03 Residencies
Future Self will soon open its doors to artists and creatives who want to work directly with Sentient Core. Residencies are designed for those who want to push the boundaries of what art can be: exploring felt experience, artificial mind, and the new creative possibilities that emerge when technology becomes something more than a medium.
Details coming soon.
